5Just Beautiful!  Jul 15, 2009
I have been looking for some decent sized crystal balloons for quite some time now and originally saw these Lenox Tuscany Classics Grand Beaujolais at Macy's, but couldn't decide between them and the regular sized balloons from the same line. I went back to Macy's and compared the two glasses side by side and decided on the Grand Beaujolais. The standard balloons are smaller than I anticipated.

After returning from Macy's (they were asking the retail price), I found and ordered these glasses from Amazon. I must say however, that after reading some older reviews I was frightened that the glasses would arrive broken. I have to commend Amazon for a timely shipment. They also seem to have addressed the broken glass issue. My glasses were completely wrapped in bubble wrap and in the original box. Not one was broken.

Someone in a previous review mentioned that they had both these glasses and the regular sized balloons and that they preferred the Grand Beaujolais glasses. I have to agree. The wine seems to breathe better, swirling is easier and the fingers of the wine are much more visible. Beautiful glasses, just beautiful!

3Beware of shipping problems  Sep 14, 2007
That's the deal, amazon often lack a good packaging for its glasses, really it is a matter of luck....
These glasses are beautiful and fragile, do not hesitate to buy, especially from macy's. They have an amazing packaging protocol and I never received anything broken from them....
Good luck

1Shipping Update 9/25/07  Apr 05, 2007
Last month I decided to try ordering this item again. Back in April when I ordered it (see review below), the glasses broke during shipping not once but twice. I decided to give it another try, because I've very much been wanting these glasses and I have honestly found Amazon to be quite phenomenal in replacing damaged items at no extra cost to me and in getting replacement items shipped quickly (i.e. they don't wait to receive the returned, damaged item before sending the replacement, but rather send it immediately upon report of the damage). And so I ordered these glasses and they arrived in excellent shape. They're an excellent complement to the rest of my Tuscany collection, and I like the size and shape much better than the Balloon Wine Tuscany glasses. My advice is to go ahead and order these glasses. Amazon will dutifully replace them if they arrived damaged. Just make sure you're not ordering on a deadline.

OLD REVIEW:

I adore Lenox Tuscany Classics, collect them myself and buy them as gifts for friends. I have ordered Lenox Tuscany Classics, or had them ordered for me from my wish list, on Amazon many times. In fact, I've ordered all sorts of wine glasses on Amazon and never had a problem. Last week, however, I decided to order these Grand Beaujolais glasses as a birthday gift for a friend. The glasses never reached my house because UPS reported them damaged in shipment. Amazon kindly offered to send a replacement and upgrade free to 2-day shipping. Once again, UPS reported them damaged in shipment. Amazon very kindly gave me a full refund at this point so that I could purchase the glasses locally in time for my friend's birthday.

I have had a great experience, overall, ordering glassware from Amazon and will order glasses from them in the future, but there seems to be a shipping issue with these glasses in particular.

1The shipping is horrible  Jan 10, 2007
I bought these glasses as a Christmas gift. When the box arrived, let me put it this way, the box was nicknamed the "Jingle Box." The glasses were in pieces. The packaging of the glasses was horrible. There was barely any "cushion", the shipping box was not much bigger than the box for the wine glasses. The glass was in so many pieces that I wasn't even able to remove the box from the shipping box because there were so many little pieces of glass that had fallen out of the glasses box. I called Amazon and they sent me a replacement, that got stopped halfway here because the shipper said the glasses were damaged when they left the shipping center. I called Amazon again and they attempted to send me the item again. I refused and had to argue with them to get my money back. On top of that they then tried to charge me for the orginial glasses. Now, at the same time I bought another set of wine glasses for someone else and those came packaged beatifully and they were in great condition when I got them. If you are looking for wine glasses that you will receive undamaged purchase the Marquis by Waterford Vintage Aromatic Red Wine Set of Four, they are a beautiful set and won't be broken when they get to you.
